Portraits of a gentleman

Exceptional pair of slightly oversized cdv size tintypes (2 5/8  x 4 1/8”) with an occupational theme.  Both are of the same gentleman: in one portrait he is smoking a cigar and in the other he is mending his jacket with a needle and thread.  While hidden by the paper mat (3 x 4 ½”) when removed we can clearly see a spool of ribbon on the table so we can assume he is a tailor by trade.  Both plates are in excellent condition with extremely nice tones and contrast.  There is light tinting to his face.  The sewing image is one of the best tintypes we have offered.  There is a light hint of typical surface wear and the cigar image shows some mat marks when removed plus a hint of an extremely minor bend.  The sewing image also has a hint of an extremely light bend on the bottom.
