Caves of Elephanta

Interesting unmounted albumen of a European or English tourist couple exploring ruins in India while a guard stands at attention. The little boy sitting on the step looks like he is in the picture at the instance of the photographer. There is a pencil inscription on the back of the photo at the top that reads Caves of Elephanta – Bombay. The image has very nice tones and measures 7 ¼” x 9 ¼”. It has been custom matted to 14” x 18”. Circa 1880.
