Strange yet intriguing sixth-plate itinerant daguerreotype of a girl who either has a skin condition, severe freckling or a bad case of the measles. Her face and hands are heavily spotted and we surmise this is a permanent condition rather than a brief illness. She is a petite young woman with an hour glass figure. She is fashionable dressed in a very busy floral patterned outfit with a large bow and slender belt which have been tinted in the most pleasing light blue color. Her broach and ring are gilded. The plate is in very good condition with a wide band of tarnish and a milky haze. This doesn’t distract in our opinion and in fact adds another layer to this fascinating image. It had old seals intact and has since been resealed with a new glass and is housed in a full leather case.
