An odd haircut

A mid-1840’s sixth-plate daguerreotype of a nice looking young man who could benefit further by choosing a new barber. Nice detail makes it obvious that his hair on the right side has been cut uneven. He wears a heavy overcoat along with a polka dot bow tie and his face and lips have a very nice hint of color. The plate is in excellent condition with a nice band of perimeter tarnish and a few small spots. The image had old seals still intact with wax still present on the back of the plate. It has now been resealed with new glass and is housed in a full leather case that has some wear. $75 |
