Sixth-plate daguerreotype of a very sad looking couple. This is quite possibly a mourning image; while the woman is not dressed in black she does wear black wrist bands and also holds what appears to be an image, although it is not clear enough to say for sure. A damaged ninth-plate tintype of a baby accompanied this piece and will be included. Whatever the situation, both of our subjects seem quite stressed, evident by their half hearted attempt to hold hands. The daguerreotype is in very good condition and there is some perimeter tarnish and some small scattered spots. The plate has had a light electrolytic cleaning and it has been resealed with new glass. It is housed in a full leather case.
