Charming sixth-plate daguerreotype of an attractive young woman.  The daguerreotypist has posed her in a pleasing manner with her hands clasped and her elbow resting on a table.  The table has also been expertly positioned to establish a very relaxed posture for our sitter.  This is most unlike the thousands of portraits we see with the table jammed to the side and the subject captured in a very stiff position.  The young lady here is fashionably dressed with large black ribbons streaming from her hair.  The plate is in excellent condition with light tinting to the woman’s cheeks and a hint of perimeter tarnish.  The image had old seals intact and we have now resealed it with a new glass.  It is housed in a full leather case, Bird Hatching Eggs, Berg 5-35.  The spine has been repaired with pneumatic leather.
